May 2019 Newsletter to AAUW-WHC members from President Sharon Jorgeson:

You have received a notice from Lilian Care, Chair of the Expanding Your Horizons Steering Committee, and me that the decision has been made not to host the EYH conference in 2020 and to take a one-year hiatus. After 27 successful EYH Conferences it is time to reassess how to move forward with future conferences. I know from the responses I have received that the overwhelming feeling by members is sadness. But be assured, your branch leadership will use this pause to examine what human and financial resources are available and how they can best be used to plan for future conferences.

AAUW luncheon featuring our-EYH keynote presenter

Alice and the White Rabbit are looking for you! We are looking for you too!  Our speaker is sculptor Bridgette Mongeon who is well versed in the story of Alice In Wonderland. She created “Move One Step On,” a depiction of the tea party from the well-known story. The sculpture resides in Evelyn’s Park in Bellaire and features Alice, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the March Hare and the Dormouse. Bridgette incorporated not only artistic talents, but elements of science, engineering, and technology, in her tea party presentation. As it was at the tea party, seating is limited; so please reserve a place a the table.
